Santiago.- En el marco del Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, nos fuimos al Centro Penitenciario Femenino de San Miguel para conocer el trabajo que un grupo de privadas de libertad está llevando a cabo allí y que fue inspirado en la iniciativa de la asistente social Claudia Caroca, una de nuestras ganadoras del Premio Mujer Impacta 2014.

Claudia entusiasmó a un grupo de internos de la Cárcel de Colina 2 para que crearan un huerto, compostaje y reciclaje de distintos tipos de materiales. Con este proyecto, la trabajadora social logró erradicar los índices de violencia en uno de los módulos de ese centro de reclusión que era conocido como el “Coliseo Romano”.

En vista de estos resultados, las internas del Centro Penitenciario Femenino de San Miguel decidieron desarrollar una iniciativa parecida. Aunque el grueso del trabajo está en ciernes, el que llevan más avanzado es el huerto y el del reciclaje de distintos tipos de materiales y lo que producen gracias a los aportes que reciben, lo venden durante las visitas, pudiendo ahorrar y mandar dinero a sus familias.

En el emotivo evento, Claudia Caroca contó su experiencia y dejó varias recomendaciones a las privadas de libertad para que este proyecto siga su curso y sea tan exitoso como el que ella desarrolló en Colina 2. “A través del reciclaje empezamos no solo a reciclar material sino a reciclarnos nosotros mismos y lo llamamos Reciclarte, como un juego de palabras. Desarrollamos huertos, lombricultura, biocosmética, hierbas medicinales… después de dos años de haber dejado Colina 2, el proyecto sigue adelante y está más grande que cuando me fui, así que eso de reciclarnos a nosotros mismo sí funciona”, indicó.

Gracias al impacto que la iniciativa de Claudia ha tenido en el CPF de San Miguel y en otras cárceles del país, decidimos lanzar la edición del Premio Mujer Impacta 2019 en el reclusorio, porque “no es la primera vez que estamos en este Centro Penitenciario. Desde el año pasado tenemos un proyecto relacionado al medio ambiente donde reciclamos revistas y papeles que no se usan para convertirlos en bolsas que regalamos en las premiaciones de Mujer Impacta. También nos es muy gratificante ver lo que una de nuestras ganadoras, Claudia Caroca, Mujer Impacta 2014, hizo y se replica a lo largo de Chile”, explicó nuestra directora María Paz Tagle.

Por su parte, representantes del Banco Santander y Copec, parte de nuestros inversores, entregaron herramientas y equipos para que las privadas de libertad del CPF de San Miguel continúen con su labor. También, desde Colina 2.0 regalaron implementos para que la iniciativa se desarrolle sin inconvenientes.

La Teniente Coronel Ana María Garrido, Jefa de Unidad del Centro Penitenciario Femenino de San Miguel, agregó que la labor que realizan las imputadas dignifica y les ayuda a un proceso de reinserción social que es beneficioso para ocupar el tiempo en capacitaciones para las privadas de libertad. “Estamos haciendo cosas importantes para que las chicas tengan herramientas o bien para cuando salen en libertad o para cuando se van a cumplir condena”.

Al evento también asistió Carolina Lavín, Seremi de Justicia y Derechos Humanos; el Director Regional Metropolitano de Gendarmería, coronel Jorge Reyes Rioseco; las ganadoras del Premio Mujer Impacta de otros años: Gladys Popa Ramírez, Sandra Ponce y Pía Salas; y Francisco Vergara, miembro del Directorio de Mujer Impacta.
